If you want to start your own web or FTP server on your computer, you may find the problem is that you have a dynamic IP (each time you connect to internet you are assigned a different IP address). If this is your case this UpdateIP utility can help you.

UpdateIP automatically updates your web pages with your current IP address, so there's no need to change it manually, so visitors to your website will always have your latest IP address.

UpdateIP also allows you to automatically notify via email to your friends when your IP changes.

This last option is useful if you want to always have your current IP so you can access your computer files either via FTP or SSH from anywhere in the world.
